Glasgow Youth Film Festival, February 7-15 2010.
The GFT Learning Team would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who attended the Glasgow Youth Film Festival 2010. This year we managed to double admissions from last year and that is all down to you!
By working with young people to deliver a dynamic and varied programme of public screenings, schools screenings and workshops, admissions to GYFF 10 reached close to 6,500 over nine days. Many Glasgow venues were involved in GYFF including GFT, Cineworld Parkhead, Platform at the Bridge, BBC Lab, IMAX at the Glasgow Science Centre, GMAC, and the Apple Store Buchanan Street.
The Festival's youth team (aged 15-18) guided GYFF's creation from the outset and during the Festival introduced films and conducted Q&As with actors and directors, sometimes in front of audiences of hundreds. Our young programmer Cassie (16) said 'I had an amazing time working in the youth team and I feel really lucky to have been a part of it. I'm looking forward to the next festival so much!'
By placing young people at the centre of the programme, it is possible for us, with assistance from our partners, to devise an exciting programme of activities that young people really want to take part in. GYFF 10 featured cinema from around the world, showcases of young people's work and masterclasses with film and television professionals. We are thrilled that so many people wanted to join us for this vibrant and unique event
The Glasgow Film Theatre’s Learning department in consultation with the GFT’s Youth Team coordinates the Glasgow Youth Film Festival. Glasgow City Council Education Services provided core funding for GYFF 10.
Thank you again, we hope to see you all again next year for an even bigger festival!!
